Hello sisters!

It's been a while since we've had a movie night at a member's home, so why not? :-) Since the last one was Joy Luck Club, here are a few other possibilities - some of which are more about sister/friend relationships than mother/daughter relationships, but all of which feature strong women:

Terms of Endearment ** Steel Magnolias ** Forrest Gump ** Fried Green Tomatoes ** Beaches ** Little Women (the contemporary version with Susan Sarandon) ** Real Women have Curves ** Evening (featuring 2 famous real-life mother-daughter actress duos) ** Auntie Mame ** Antonia's Line ** All About My Mother **

Please vote for your favorite by Sept 15th - I'll send for the winner from Netflix so it'll be here in time for our get-together.

When y'all get here we can order some pizzas or a couple of trays of Pizza Hut Tuscani Pasta (if you haven't tried it before, it's delish!) and I can make a big Greek salad or regular garden salad and iced tea.

Once you pull up to the gate, punch 218 on the call box so I can buzz you through. Go straight past the mail pavilion and the clubhouse. We are a little ways past the clubhouse, to the left, in Unit 38. You may park in any non-numbered parking space (all numbered spaces are assigned to residents).

Hope to see you at this movie night!!!!

OK, so we'll be watching Antonia's Line. It's looking like this is gonna be a combination potluck/order-out so that those who feel like making something will be doing so, and those who don't feel like cooking can order out once we get here and let Chez Pizza Hut (or Le Chinese Food?) provide, and we can all share the goodness. I have a TON of delivery menus from different types of restaurants. :-) Hope that sounds good for everybody.

I ordered Antonia's Line from Netflix since I only got one vote on the selections. Here's the description: "Winner of the 1995 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film ... this is the remarkable story of a woman who builds a new life with her daughter in a quiet Dutch village after World War II. Earthy, sexy, romantic and filled with laughter and warmth, it's a joyous, multi-generational celebration of simple pleasures and enduring passions." It sounded positive, so why not ... :-)

Cool, I'm looking fwd to this as well. :-) I am sure there will be more people RSVPing by the 15th. I hear you re: spending too much time around your SO, girl time is good! LOL. Does anybody have a particular pref. re: the movie?

Well it looks like there aren't a lot of people RSVPing Yes for this event, so I may not be cooking that much! But I'm still looking forward to it. I spend too much time around my boyfriend and need to factor in some good, old-fashioned girl time, so I'll definitely be there. Now . . . what to cook?!? Hmmmm....

Hi Valerie - Sure, thanks for offering to do that! You can bring an app, some tasty beverages or a dessert if you feel like it. Do other people feel like bringing smthg too? If so, then we can make this a potluck movie night, no problem!!!! Or a combination potluck/order-out so that people who want to make something, can, and those who don't feel like it can let Chez Pizza Hut (or Le Trader Joe's?) provide. :-) Let me know ...

This sounds like such a great opportunity to meet fellow Mama Mias. Shall I bring an appetizer, a covered dish or a liquid refreshment? I always need a great excuse to get in the kitchen and create!
